Welcome Choral Enthusiasts!

In September, 1972, Professore Dilmore of the University of Western Ontario agreed to set up a community orchestra (now The Georgian Bay Symphony). For their first concert in December, he wanted a group of singers to perform some of the Christmas choruses from Handels Messiah. The singers enjoyed it so much, they decided to form a group of their own and thus was born the Georgian Bay Concert Choir. Their mandate became to assemble the necessary forces required to present master works in the community using, where possible, paid talented singers and instrumentalists from the area. It was also decided that performances would include as much music as possible created by Canadian composers.

The choir has grown to 40 voices, drawing singers from a 60 mile radius to participate in professional quality performance of the great choral masterworks.

The choir will be performing Fauré's Requiem on September 11, 2011 in Stratford. Rehearsals are being held on May 10th and May 17th at Timothy Christian School from 7-9pm. New members welcome!

The Georgian Bay Concert Choir is always looking for new members (especially tenors and basses).

Do you:

  • Like to sing?
  • Have the ability to read music?
  • Have fun?
  • Have the willingness to commit your time to practice, rehearsals and concerts during the fall, winter and spring?

Previous experience singing in a choir is an assest but is not necessary.

New members welcome!
